The start of the “Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers Parbold Hill Race” |

|
At 14:10 on Saturday 13th February, 500 runners took part in the 40th Annual Parbold Hill Race. The race started on the Richard Durning’s school playing field, Bispham Green and went over Parbold Hill, via farmers’ fields, roads and muddy tracks before returning to the school 6.8 miles later. Visit Joe Lee’s website for the results of the 2007 race and John Schofield’s UKresults website for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 results. A course map and elevation profile are on the Sanoodi and Garmin Connect websites. See what runners are saying about our race on the Runners World website. Click on the map to “fly” over the course (Googlemaps plugin and activex required).
A picture slideshow of the course is here.
The event was sponsored by Sweatshop and Halliwell Jones. Skelmersdale Boundary Harriers would like to thank family and friends for their marshalling and support. We would also like to thank Richard Durning’s School and the Farmer’s Arms for the use of their facilities, various farmers for allowing us to cross their land, the Red Cross for first aid and Chris Lyons for the “shower”. Without you this race could not happen.
Unfortunately, a bad fall by one of the runners in this year’s race resulted in an injury which required assistance from the North West Air Ambulance and the Red Cross. Please visit their websites to see if there is any way you can help them.
